Michael Crisera from FGV has been busy maturity testing Pink Ladies. See comments and results below:
Maturity of Pinks varies quite significantly depending on rootstock, tree health and strain of Cripps Pink. Traditional Cripps Pink blocks have more advanced maturity than higher colour strains in general. The waiting for colour in the older strains will mean that these blocks need to be harvested quickly and marketed early to avoid bruising problems with mature fruit in the field, packing shed and on market shelves.
